2020: Reflect, Recover, Renew

Welcome to Three-Peat Tuesday! Reflect, Recover, Renew

Building from my recent book UNBEATABLE! Seven Pillars of Personal Excellence, each blog will contain three P’s: Pillar, Principle, and Practical, all geared towards nourishing you on your personal and spiritual growth journey.

Pillar: A Time to Reflect

“… be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.”-Paul, the Apostle

Principle: A Time to Recover

Mental, emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual recovery. Even if we don’t need all five of these at the end of 2020, I’m pretty confident that at least one of them falls squarely into our laps.

As we look forward to 2021 and the hope that a new year typically brings, I anticipate that men and women of all ages are taking a few moments to reflect on the past twelve months. It truly has been a year of hills and valleys.

How are you doing today? Are you exhausted? Discouraged? Hopeful? Prayerful? Do you feel like God was absent or present in 2020? Was a year filled with COVID-19 infections, racial tensions, disputed elections, civil unrest and multiple celebrity deaths, a part of His Divine will and purpose? I can only raise the questions, my friends. The answers are beyond me.

As a fan of both Argentina’s football team and the Los Angeles Lakers, it was tough to lose Diego Maradona and Kobe Bryant in the same year.  Still, there were also many upsides this year, especially seeing my father turn 80 earlier in December. Having lost my mom at age 70, this was a big deal for our family. Life is a gift.

I have decided to end 2020 in a spirit of surrender to Divine Love, confident that the Creator of the universe remains fully in control of human history and destiny. We may not understand God’s will, but the Apostle Paul was bang on target in defining it as good, acceptable, and perfect.

Practical: A Time to Renew

Think spiritually about the year gone by. Renew your mind. A successful 2021 begins with our thoughts. Happy New Year everyone.
