Celebrating Milestones

Welcome to Three-Peat Tuesday!

Building from my recent book UNBEATABLE! Seven Pillars of Personal Excellence, each blog will contain three P’s: Pillar, Principle and Practical, all geared towards nourishing you on your personal and spiritual growth journey.

Pillar

“None of us is as smart as all of us”-Ken Blanchard, author

Principle

I love milestones. October 2020 has brought many. My wife, Michelle, celebrated her spiritual birthday. One of my best friends, Gospel Minister Rizon, celebrated his physical birthday. Very special to me, too, is that October 26, 2020 marked the first anniversary of the launch of my website, Marcus2229.

Even this year, with all of its challenges, has offered many opportunities to celebrate milestones. My favourite NBA team, the Los Angeles Lakers won their first title in a decade, a fitting tribute after the tragic loss of their legend Kobe Bryant in a helicopter crash. My daughter, Tyrelle, became a teenager this year and my son learnt how to do a front flip on the trampoline at home under Tyrelle’s coaching!

The cool thing about milestones is that you get to share it with those around you. It’s the relationships that make all the difference. Family, friends, colleagues, neighbours. This is what life is about. I am reminded of Proverbs 17:17 which says: “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.”

Haven’t we all felt grateful for the people God has placed in our lives? They’ve been there through hills and valleys, different people for different seasons. They add value to our existence. We are better and wiser because of them.

Today, I celebrate all of you. Thank you for allowing me into your life, at least once a week! May God bless our future together by his grace and perfect will.

Practical

Remember one milestone that you reached in 2020. Quietly celebrate it again.

If you’re inspired by this blog, please share it with one other person today. To learn more about these pillars of personal excellence, read UNBEATABLE! which is now available on Amazon in print and as an e-book.

My milestone is our silver wedding anniversary, January 28.
It’s really important to reflect on our personal and collective milestones and memories, to keep us strong during the “down times”.
    And so, thanks.
