Evolve - Man climing mountain

Welcome to Three-Peat Tuesday!

Each weekly blog will contain three P’s: Pillar, Principle and Practical, all geared towards nourishing you on your personal and spiritual growth journey.

Pillar: Embrace

“…suffering produces endurance and endurance produces character and character produces hope”-Romans 5:3-4

Principle: Evaluate and Endure

I am looking forward to July 1, 2021. It is neither my birthday nor my anniversary which both already went by recently. My enthusiasm for that day is for the simple reason that it is the first day of the second half of the year.

The time, therefore, is opportune for all of us to look back at the first six months of 2021 and evaluate your progress. Yes, you have grown in some area of your life, even if it is not obvious to you. Please take a few moments to reflect on this.

My own guess is that you’ve endured some difficulties between January and June and yet you are still standing. It may have been a challenging relationship at work, the death of a loved one, some form of illness, a personal sin that keeps nagging at you or the loss of a job. But you have endured. You did not throw in the towel.

There is no endurance without suffering. Our characters will not grow without endurance and perseverance. Hope shines on the horizon when we stay afloat despite all the odds stacked up against us. Embrace life’s dark nights and see yourself blossom and bloom through it all. God is with you.

Are you contemplating giving up, discouraged by your present hardship? Let me encourage you to hang in there. The next six months can be better than the first six. It all depends on the perspective you choose. And yes, it is a choice-your choice.

Practical: Evolve

Make the daily decision to be a man or woman of endurance and see yourself evolve into that priceless gem that you were created to be.

I hear you on this Tyrone! It has been a difficult year on all levels, but primarily on my job. On more than one occasion, I wanted to throw in the towel. Today is actually the last day that I would be teaching an extremely difficult student. All I can say is I am glad I persevered, and saw it through to the end. I believe I have grown so much in my character. God definitely taught me so many valuable lessons during the time and I am eternally grateful that I chose to hang in there, and so is this wonderful young man.

I am looking for a better 2nd half of the year. Already seeing that hope still a distant one but I have to hang in there.
