Good Morning - Marcus 2229

Welcome to Three-Peat Tuesday!

Building from my recent book UNBEATABLE! Seven Pillars of Personal Excellence, each blog will contain three P’s: Pillar, Principle and Practical, all geared towards nourishing you on your personal and spiritual growth journey.

Pillar

If anyone loudly blesses their neighbour early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse”-Proverbs 27:14

Principle

“Mornin’, neighbour! You look lovely today!”

When we say this, do we really mean it or has it become an automatic greeting devoid of genuineness and meaning?

There’s something unique, special and intriguing about our relationships with our neighbours. They’re like extended family. Before the COVID-19 restrictions, we chatted, laughed and maybe had meals together. At times, we carried gifts and tokens to each other, we brought fruits or we lent one another garden tools to complete our outdoor work.

I admit and recognize that it’s not the same in every neighbourhood. Depending on your situation, your neighbours may not trust each other, are divided by opposing political affiliations, may pass each other straight while walking on the streets and if they said “Good morning,” it’s only because you said it first.

I believe, though, that neighbours are a blessing and that God allowed you to live where you live right now for a reason, even if it’s only for a limited time. In other words, let’s not take our neighbours for granted.

We can contribute to building an environment of warmth, generosity and solidarity where we live, through conscious acts of love and service. When we do this, our morning greetings to the folks next door will be received as a blessing and not as a curse. Your sincerity of heart and speech will shine brightly on your street.

Practical

Decide never to gossip about any of your neighbours. Always speak to them, not about them.

Why are we always pointing fingers?

Finger-pointing is probably as natural is eating. It comes with being human. From the days of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, we have been blaming others.
