love - rings

Welcome to Three-Peat Tuesday!

Each weekly blog will contain three P’s: Pillar, Principle and Practical, all geared towards nourishing you on your personal and spiritual growth journey.

Pillar: Heavenly Love

“He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favour from the Lord”-Proverbs 18:22

Principle: Celebrating Love

I landed in Jamaica on December 27, 1999 getting ready for some hands on-training in Christian ministry just over a year out of law school. As I was introduced to Michelle for the first time that day, I was told that it was her birthday. Still sleepy from the plane ride, I offered her birthday greetings.

As Michelle and I worked together with the campus ministry in Mona, we became great friends. When she travelled overseas for a short while in early 2000, I missed her. Hmmm… Falling in love? Michelle would later tell me that before we got married, “love hearts” would appear on her phone whenever I called. Blush! Blush!

You all would forgive me for dedicating most of this week’s blog to my sweetheart, Michelle, as God has graciously brought us to the cusp of our 20th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2021. A beautiful woman of wisdom and depth of character, she makes me better. Although we first met on her birthday, I am the one who received the gift.

Milestones like this remind me that life is about relationships. It’s about people. Love is true currency. Grace connects us because we are all broken. Hills and valleys keep us grounded, yet grateful. Being alive is a product of divine favour.

Thank you, Michelle, for loving and supporting me from the very beginning. Your devotion to me and our children is exemplary. Special “Thanks” as well to so many of you readers who have contributed to the past 20 years of our lives in one way or another.

My heart is filled.

Practical: Sending out Love

Whether or not you’re celebrating a special occasion this week, send out some love to someone who has made you better.

Imagine wives reading notes like this from their husbands on a regular basis, Lovely! It certainly warms my heart to know that there are still many husbands out there appreciating their wives after many years of marriage and declaring it publicly too.
Good for you Michelle and Happy Anniversary to you, both!
