“Out of the overflow”

The format of my 2020 blogs was inspired by James Clear’s “3-2-1” Thursdays. Building from my recent book UNBEATABLE! Seven Pillars of Personal Excellence, each week you will receive One Pillar, One Principle and One Practical.

One Pillar

“For out of the overflow of his heart, his mouth speaks.”-Jesus, the Christ.

One Principle

The well-known expression that “out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks” was uttered by Jesus Christ in the first century A.D. during his public ministry. This was an insightful observation. Our hearts and tongues are connected whether we accept it or not. If we wish to speak pure words, we need to keep pure hearts. Are there any issues in your heart that you have ignored? Envy? Jealousy? Bitterness? Lack of forgiveness? Don’t let it linger. As a wise woman I met years ago said: “Life is not kind to the things you neglect.”

One Practical

Find someone you can trust and talk to him or her this upcoming week about one deep issue lodged in your heart that you have ignored. Be transparent. Be vulnerable. Trust me on this: open up and feel the liberation.

To learn more about these pillars of personal excellence, read UNBEATABLE! which is now available on Amazon in print and as an e-book.

I feel so much lighter when i deal with my own heart which is also very challenging at times. Being Jamaican, my heart flow often doesn’t flow in a way that is properly received at times and I often have to rethink how I express the things I feel. It can rub persons the wrong way at times. I have to guard against the element of judgment that often seeps in. Thanks.

Thanks for your transparency Michelle. You are not alone in the fight to speak pure and gracious words as part of our daily way of life. This journey is indeed valuable.

Thanks for this Tyrone – and the opposite of Love is Hate (no in-between) so as I search my own heart for those issues I have to unearth and speak about the relationships with those persons I do not love … the beginning of curving my own trajectory on the things I neglect

Thanks for your vulnerability Andre in identifying the depths of the thoughts of your heart, but just as importantly, your commitment to living at peace with all men. Such devotion lays a solid foundation for purity of heart.
