Peace - Jesus Christ on the Cross

Welcome to Three-Peat Tuesdays!

Building from my recent book UNBEATABLE! Seven Pillars of Personal Excellence, each blog will contain three P’s: Pillar, Principle and Practical, all geared towards nourishing you on your personal and spiritual growth journey.

Pillar: Peace be with You

“’Peace be with you.’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord”-John 20:19-20

Principle: Peace is Possible

The trial surrounding the death of George Floyd is underway in the USA. Protestors are dying in Myanmar virtually on a daily basis. Countries are at loggerheads over the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. Human disharmony abounds.

The presence of disunity is inevitable. A key question, then, is how we respond to it. Passion week is a bridge-builder. All over the world, Jesus followers take time during this season to reflect on the life-changing impact of his own trial and death.

After he rose from the dead, Jesus greeted his astonished disciples with these four words: “Peace be with you.” He had the world of words from which to select when he met with them, yet he spoke about peace.

It’s a comforting, reassuring word. For me, terms like harmony, stillness, rest, serenity and solitude come to mind when I reflect on peace. Expressions like war, disquiet and noise are pushed far away. It’s an optimistic, positive word.

Whatever your faith tradition and practice may be, I wish you divine peace this Easter. The sight of Jesus caused his disciples to rejoice. My desire for you is that you also experience inner, deep-seated joy to accompany that peace.

The resurrection of Christ opens the door to our own spiritual renewal and rebirth. We can change for the better. Those around us can be inspired by our life, love, faith and example. One heart at a time, we can make a lasting difference.

Peace is possible.

Practical: Promoting Peace

Promote peace this upcoming week by reaching out to someone with whom you have felt emotional distance. Bridge the gap.

If you were inspired by this blog, please consider sharing it with one other person today. To learn more about these and other related themes that promote the cultivation of an integrated inner self, read UNBEATABLE! which is now available on Amazon in print and as an e-book.
