Doing all things

“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible”-Matthew 19:26

Against all odds

For just one brief but exciting moment they were on top of the world! After Day 1 of the Winter Paralympic Games currently taking place in Beijing, China, guess who was on top of the medal table? Yep-Ukraine!

These are the stories that give you hope and a sense of belief when things look bleak. While Ukraine’s position as leader of the medal count was quickly overtaken by China in the following days, many fans and even fellow competitors would have joined them in savouring the historic feat, transient as it was.

How do you beat the best in the world when your country is under military attack, your compatriots face the daily threat of death and infrastructural damage continues to mount? My guess is that one or all of the following need to be present: tenacity, strength of character, unity of purpose, unshakeable faith and an unwavering resolve.

To add to the beauty of the moment was the fact that in the men’s sprint vision impaired race, Ukraine swept the podium! First, second and third in that event all went to a country that just managed to get their 20 athletes into China as the Russian invasion was beginning.

I do not know what spiritual worldview the Ukrainian athletes may have. Yet, their courage in the midst of darkness took me back to the words of Jesus in Matthew 19:26 above. God makes all things possible.

What are you battling with today that seems insurmountable? Do you feel stuck, discouraged or uncertain due to life’s challenges? At one point or another we all seem to go through those valleys as they form an inevitable part of life’s journey. Remember, though, that what seems impossible for man becomes possible with God.

Making the Impossible, Possible

Never place limits on what God can do in your life. He is the God of the impossible.

Yes I am seeing that in my own life. God is allowing me to do things that I didn’t foresee. It was just a hope and now it has become a reality. Thank you.
