Welcome to Three-Peat Tuesday!
Building from my recent book UNBEATABLE! Seven Pillars of Personal Excellence, each blog will contain three P’s: Pillar, Principle and Practical, all geared towards nourishing you on your personal and spiritual growth journey.
Pillar: Unexpected Times
“Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net, or birds are taken in a snare, so people are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them.”-Ecclesiastes 9:12
Principle: Unexpected Year
2020 was an unexpected year. It caught us all off guard. So many of us were thrilled when 2021 started, because we could put one of the most difficult years in modern memory behind us. Then January 6, 2021 happened in the USA.
Let me state from the outset that I have no political agenda. Similarly, today’s brief thoughts will not be a commentary about the US presidency. However, it’s hard to ignore the gravity of the unrest that shook the American society last week and sadly, took five lives.
Some commentators considered the attacks on Capitol Hill inconceivable. Others saw it coming. Either way, it affected millions of people whether physically, emotionally or psychologically. These are unexpected times.
Have you ever experienced an unforeseen tragedy? Did you ever attend a funeral that you never thought you would be attending so soon? Has 2021 already dealt you some unwanted cards? My invitation today is simple: let us live 2021 with a sense of humility, gratitude and grace because each day is so unpredictable.
In last week’s blog, “Unhurried”, I urged us to slow down so that we can do fewer things but with greater depth, meaning and quality. Today, I encourage all of us to not only walk more deliberately and conscientiously, but also with increasing humility.
Practical: Unexpected Future
Use each day wisely, intentionally and purposefully. These are challenging times.

Thanks again Tyrone for more food for thought. Although many may have longed for the new year, simply to move away from the unexpected 2020 happenings, I find today’s blog directing me to ponder what last year’s lessons might help to make clearer of what this year brings.
That’s a wonderful perspective to have. I appreciate that, Hope.
